When WordPress meets Mac

Today after uploading a newer version of WordPress to my server from my Mac, I got a pretty strange error.

…Mac OS X ….com.apple.quarantineq/0000;…..;Safari;……

After a bit of digging around I found a solution. Turns out that in OS X 10.5 or 10.6 whenever a file is downloaded into the Downloads folder is marked with a quarantine attribute until it is opened and “cleared” by the user. Luckily it’s easy to remove. Run this command in Terminal:
xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine file-path
Then in your server clear the “wp-admin” and “wp-includes” folders and re-upload WordPress.
